Separate the work by application
Group the project into cabinets, wardrobes, shutters, partitions, shelves, wall panels and furniture. Each group can have different expectations for moisture, finish, span and fixing.
Make the specification readable
Write the material, grade, thickness, sheet size, surface finish and estimated quantity beside each application. This prevents a broad phrase such as “plywood work” from hiding important differences.
Coordinate with the site team
Check storage, access, cutting, edge treatment and installation sequence early. Boards that are protected and correctly identified are easier to install without late substitutions.
Review alternatives carefully
If availability changes, compare the proposed alternative by performance, dimensions, certification, finish and price. Preserve the design intent before approving a substitution.
- Room and moisture condition.
- Application and component size.
- Grade, thickness and finish.
- Quantity, storage and delivery schedule.
A disciplined material brief gives architects, interior designers, contractors and local suppliers a shared reference for the project.
